The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has granted radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems an exclusion from U.S. trade tariffs for linear accelerator components manufactured in China, effective September 20.
The exemption corresponds with a decision earlier this month by the Chinese government to retroactively lift tariffs that were imposed on linear accelerators. The USTR also previously approved Varian's request for a tariff exemption for its Halcyon radiotherapy systems manufactured in China.
