The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) has published an updated version of its comprehensive radiation oncology safety reference guide.
Last updated in 2012, Safety is No Accident: A Framework for Quality Radiation Oncology and Care now incorporates knowledge gained through the society's Radiation Oncology Incident Learning System (RO-ILS) and Accreditation Program for Excellence (APEx) initiatives, ASTRO said. It also includes enhanced measures for radiation safety, supervision of stereotactic treatments, and certification of dosimetrists and radiation therapists.
