Ten cancer patients at the Chi Mei Medical Center in Tainan City, Taiwan, are the first in that country to have undergone radiosurgery using Varian Medical Systems' HyperArc high-definition radiation therapy (HDRT) technology.
HyperArc automates treatments such as stereotactic radiosurgery and is incorporated into the company's TrueBeam and Edge treatment systems, Varian said. It allows clinicians to deliver compact radiation doses that match the size, shape, and location of tumors.
Varian's Eclipse software and Aria oncology information system support treatment planning for HyperArc, according to the firm.
