Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems has introduced HyperDrive, an interactive software engine designed to create and optimize radiotherapy and radiosurgery dose prescriptions.
Varian said that HyperDrive will be a complement to its RapidPlan software and will be integrated into its Eclipse treatment planning software. HyperDrive was developed by Karl Otto, an adjunct professor of medical physics at the University of British Columbia. Otto was also instrumental in the development of Varian's RapidArc radiotherapy technique, according to Varian.
