Proton therapy developer Mevion Medical Systems has taken an order for its Mevion S250 proton therapy system from MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
The facility received final approval to begin construction of the first proton therapy center in Washington, DC, at its Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Construction is scheduled to start in the fall, with installation of the Mevion S250 system to be completed in 2016.
Mevion 250 is a single-room proton therapy system designed to deliver precise, noninvasive treatment with a reduced footprint.
