Radiation therapy firm RaySearch Laboratories said the first patient has been treated with its pencil-beam scanning technique.
A patient at the Provision Center for Proton Therapy in Knoxville, TN, received the milestone treatment. The clinical patient treatment plans were created using the firm's RayStation treatment planning and dose-tracking software platform and were delivered using an Ion Beam Applications proton system.
