A San Jose radiation oncologist has been accused of embezzling $46,000 meant for cancer research and using it to pay his phone and credit card bills, as well as his parents' mortgage, according a story reported by NBC Bay Area.
Dr. Tri Minh Do, formerly of the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, allegedly cashed checks from the American College of Radiology (ACR) intended to reimburse the hospital for prostate cancer research and used the money to pay his own bills, NBC Bay Area reported.
Do is now practicing medicine in Fresno, CA, but will be back in court in San Jose on September 13 for arraignment. If convicted, he could face four years in state prison.
