Ultrasound and radiotherapy products developer CIVCO Medical Solutions has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the integration of its Protura robotic patient positioning system with radiation oncology firm Elekta's motion management interface.
Protura interfaces with image-guided radiation-therapy-enabled linear accelerators and is designed to support submillimeter patient positioning, CIVCO said.
The integration with Elekta provides automatic pedestal location, automated patient information transfer from Elekta's Mosaiq radiation oncology information system, and patient shift data from Elekta's XVI imaging system.
