Radiation therapy vendor Varian Medical Systems announced that 1,000-bed Cheng Ching General Hospital in Taichung, Taiwan, has begun treating cancer patients with a newly installed TrueBeam STx radiotherapy system.
This is the first TrueBeam system to be used in Taiwan, Varian said.
The hospital has developed a program for treating hepatocellular carcinoma, a type of liver cancer that is widespread in Asia, with image-guided radiosurgery, Varian said. The radiation oncology department will use the TrueBeam STx machine to treat all forms of cancer, especially those that involve tumor motion during treatment.
