Radiation oncology firm Elekta announced it has won a contract with a Brazilian hospital for its therapy and planning systems.
Barretos Cancer Hospital has purchased Elekta's Synergy platform, Monaco and XiO treatment planning systems, and Clarity 3D ultrasound-assisted image-guided radiation therapy. The hospital received the products in August.
Barretos plans to use Synergy to treat many of its patients with volumetric-modulated arc therapy. It will use two Clarity systems -- the first in Latin America, according to Elekta -- to provide image guidance for soft-tissue targets.
