iCAD has taken an order from the Pink Lotus Breast Center in Beverly Hills, CA, for the company's Xoft Axxent electronic brachytherapy system.
The Xoft system for intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) is designed to deliver a single targeted dose of radiation during surgery directly to the tumor cavity, minimizing radiation to healthy tissue and organs, the firm said.
The system is cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of conditions where radiation is indicated, including early-stage breast cancer, skin cancer, and endometrial cancer.
