Inova has become the first health system in the world to implement GE HealthCare's (GEHC) Signa Sprint Elite, a 1.5-tesla MRI system designed for cardiac, oncologic, and pediatric imaging, as well as imaging for patients with implanted devices.
As the system operates at 1.5 tesla, it is suited for patients with implanted medical devices who may not be eligible for higher-field MRI scans, the company noted.
The system incorporates AI technologies and offers free-breathing imaging options that reduce or eliminate the need for breath-holding during scans, according to GEHC. It also features a 70-cm wide bore and flexible coils designed to improve patient comfort.
According to Inova, Signa Sprint Elite has been installed at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, VA, where it will be integrated with Inova Schar Heart and Vascular to allow for collaboration among Inova’s heart and vascular teams, as well as expand access for outpatients referred by community cardiologists and subspecialists.
It will be used to support clinicians in evaluating conditions such as cardiac amyloidosis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and microvascular dysfunction, the company added.
