Hyperfine begins enrolling PRISM PMR trial for Swoop system

Portable MRI developer Hyperfine is launching a study to evaluate the use of its AI-powered Swoop portable MRI system for a range of neurosurgical procedures.

According to the Guilford, CT-based company, the first patients have already been enrolled for the PRISM PMR (PRe- and postoperatIve Study of iMaging with Portable MR) clinical trial, which will be conducted over three months at the Atlas Surgery Center in Buffalo, NY.

The study is designed to evaluate both pre- and postprocedure use of the portable MRI system across a diverse span of neurosurgical procedures, including assessing its ability to detect postoperative complications such as stroke and bleeding.

In addition, the trial aims to assess how the Swoop system can best be integrated into the surgical workflow to expedite discharge and recovery, the firm added.

In addition to PRISM PMR, Hyperfine is also conducting the NEURO PMR (Neurological Evaluation in the Office with Portable MRI) and PRIME (Portable Rapid Imaging for Medical Emergencies) studies.
