
Stratasys has introduced RadioMatrix, the first radiopaque 3D printing material for use with its Digital Anatomy 3D printers.
RadioMatrix enables 3D-printed anatomic models to be visible and mimic human anatomy on CT or x-ray imaging, according to the vendor. The models can exhibit several radiopacity values ranging from -30 HU to 1,000 HU, Stratasys said.
In a statement from Stratasys, Justin Ryan, PhD, of Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, said that the ability to print 3D models with controlled radiodensity is expected to lead to improved visibility and traceability of medical devices; enhanced production of bespoke and patient-derived phantoms for training and educational purposes; and new methodologies for improving CT image quality.
