Worcester, MA-based AiM Medical Robotics has been awarded $2 million from the U.S. National Cancer Institute to develop an MRI-compatible robotic platform for ablative treatment of brain tumors.
The system is designed to offer real-time MRI-based thermometry coupled to robot control for tumor ablation planning and treatment delivery, the company said. The system will allow robotic intervention within the MRI suite itself, rather than requiring patients to be moved between imaging and treatment environments.
The award supports a first-in-human feasibility study at Brigham and Women's Hospital from September 2026 through August 2028, the firm noted.
