A decline in its vascular access business contributed to flat sales for interventional technology firm AngioDynamics in its 2020 fiscal second quarter.
For the period (end-November 30), AngioDynamics had net sales of $70 million, flat compared with the same quarter a year ago. Oncology net sales climbed 5.1% to reach $16.1 million, while net sales of its vascular interventions and therapies technology increased 0.6% to $31.2 million during the quarter. Vascular access net sales declined 4%, however, to $22.8 million, due primarily to lower sales of ports and peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICCs), according to the vendor.
AngioDynamics had a net loss from continuing operations of $2.7 million, an improvement over the net loss of $3.6 million reported in the 2019 fiscal second quarter. The firm reiterated its 2020 fiscal year guidance.
In other news, AngioDynamics said it has acquired the C3 Wave peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) tip location system from Medical Components. The wireless, app-based electrocardiogram (ECG) system eliminates the need for a chest x-ray to confirm PICC tip placement, enabling greater patient access to its BioFlo PICCs, according to the company.
