E-Z-EM of Lake Success, NY, reported growth in revenues and net income in the company's second fiscal quarter (end-December 1), one of the last reporting periods before the company's pending acquisition by Italian contrast firm Bracco is completed.
For the period, E-Z-EM posted sales of $43.6 million, up 28% compared to sales of $34.2 million in the same period of 2006. The company said that higher revenues from its RSDL business added $5.8 million in sales growth, while $1.7 million in higher sales came from higher CT injector sales, favorable currency exchange rates, and price increases. The company also enjoyed higher sales in its contract manufacturing and virtual colonoscopy businesses.
On the profit side, the company reported net income from continuing operations of $2.8 million, compared with net income of $1.8 million in the same period of 2006.
The company said that it expects the Bracco acquisition to be completed in the first or second calendar quarter of 2008.
