GE Healthcare has inked a deal with Cardiovascular Medical Group of Southern California (CVMG) to install GE's low x-ray dose SnapShot Pulse for the LightSpeed VCT 64-slice CT system.
SnapShot Pulse reduces patient exposure to radiation by limiting the amount of time the x-ray beam is on, the Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based company said.
Images from the LightSpeed VCT using SnapShot Pulse software will be available in patient electronic records through the CVMG multisite network, and patient information will also be available through secure Internet access via NotesMD, a patient chart and distribution system.
CVMG plans to perform a multicenter research trial, sponsored by GE, to establish that CT coronary angiography offers better diagnosis, improved patient care, and reduced radiation dose.
