Salix Pharmaceuticals of Raleigh, NC, said that it has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration marketing approval for its OsmoPrep Tablets.
The tablets are indicated for cleansing of the colon as a preparation for colonoscopy in adults 18 years of age or older. Salix said OsmoPrep provides an alternative for patients who may have difficulty with high-volume liquid cleansing agents such as polyethylene glycol or sodium phosphate products.
