CTI and Siemens retool PET alliance

PET developer CTI Molecular Imaging of Knoxville, TN, and multimodality vendor Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, PA, have signed an agreement to restructure their alliance for the sales and marketing of PET and PET/CT equipment manufactured by CPS Innovations, a Knoxville, TN-based joint venture between the two firms.

Under terms of the agreement, the current CTI Molecular Imaging tomograph sales force in the U.S. will become a sales agent for Siemens and will work under Siemens management, utilizing existing Siemens processes and infrastructure, according to CTI. The new relationship became effective on May 1.

Scanner sales and service activities outside the U.S. will be performed exclusively by Siemens, with the exception of South Korea and Japan, where CTI has other contractual obligations.

Each company will retain its own field-service personnel in the U.S. All PET and PET/CT scanners sold under the new agreement will be marketed under the Siemens ECAT and biograph labels. Also part of the agreement, Siemens will begin to market other CTI Molecular Imaging products and services, including FDG and cyclotrons, CTI said.
