Siemens Medical Solutions has received Food and Drug Administration clearance for virtual colonoscopy software running on the company’s syngo platform. A self-contained image analysis software package, syngo Colonography is available on the Malvern, PA-based vendor's Somatom Emotion and Somatom Sensation CT product lines.
The package combines digital image processing tools with optimized workflow and reporting capabilities, according to the vendor. It can aid physicians in studying the intraluminal view, extraluminal view, and wall of the colon, Siemens said.
