SNMMI inducts 2023 fellows

The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) recognized nine new fellows at its 2023 annual meeting.

The fellowship recognizes distinguished service to the society as well as exceptional achievement in the field of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. It is among the most prestigious formal recognitions available to long-time SNMMI members.

Munir Ghesani, MD, from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, and president of SNMMI, was inducted as a fellow. Others inducted included the following:

  • Ramsey Badawi, PhD, of the University of California Davis Health, Sacramento, CA
  • Erin Grady, MD, of Stanford University
  • John Hoffman, MD, of the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City
  • Andrei Iagaru, MD, of Stanford University
  • Martin Pomper, MD, PhD, of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD
  • Arman Rahmim, PhD, of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada
  • Barry Shulkin, MD, of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN
  • Gary Ulaner, MD, PhD, of the Hoag Family Cancer Institute in Irvine, CA

Additionally, SNMMI CEO Virginia Pappas will be recognized as an honorary fellow for her years of service to the society.

Fellows are selected based on documented excellence of volunteer service to the society and at least one of the additional three areas: excellence in scientific discovery and innovation, educational efforts in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging, or clinical practice of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging.
