Nuance reports growth of its AI marketplace

Nuance Communications reports that its artificial intelligence (AI) marketplace has grown quickly since launching about one year ago.

The company's AI Marketplace for Diagnostic Imaging is a collaborative community of developers, publishers, data scientists, and radiologists validating algorithms for radiology, and it combines its PowerScribe radiology reporting and PowerShare image exchange network with Nvidia's deep-learning platform. This allows for widespread development and rapid deployment of AI models into existing radiology workflows, according to Nuance.

The marketplace is capable of creating and distributing algorithms for 25,000 radiologists across 5,500 healthcare facilities, the company said. It now has more than 40 developers, including Nvidia, Israeli software developer Aidoc, Zebra, Aidence, Densitas, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Furthermore, Nuance is working with the American College of Radiology and other standards bodies to establish and apply application program interface (API) connectivity standards for the use of AI in the radiology workflow, as well as EHRs, PACS, and registries.
