The American College of Radiology (ACR) has elected Alan H. Matsumoto, MD, as president at its annual meeting in Washington, DC.
Matsumoto is a professor of radiology and former chair of radiology at the University of Virginia. He has also previously served as chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors.
The ACR also elected David Larson, MD, as vice president during ACR 2026. Larson is a professor of radiology at Stanford University, director of the Stanford AI Development and Evaluation Lab, and founder and co-director of the ACR Learning Network.
Christoph Wald, MD, PhD, will serve as chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors, with Gregory Nicola, MD, as vice chair.
The ACR also named Mark D. Alson, MD, as the 2026 recipient of the William T. Thorwarth Jr., MD, FACR Award, which recognizes exceptional contributions to radiology health policy and economics. Alson is a founding member and president of Sierra Imaging Associates Medical Group in Fresno, CA. He has also served on numerous ACR economics committees.
