GE Healthcare is highlighting a range of new products, including recently cleared digital angiography systems, at this week's Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) annual meeting in Washington, DC.
GE said it had received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the Innova 3131IQ and 2121IQ digital flat-panel angiography systems, designed to cover the full size of a patient's lateral and frontal anatomy simultaneously for various cardiovascular and neurovascular image-guided interventional procedures, according to the Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor. Offering area coverage of 20 cm and 30 cm, the systems are indicated for use in cardiovascular imaging, diagnostic and interventional procedures, and 3D imaging of vessels and soft tissue, GE said.
GE has also received FDA 510(k) clearance for its SnapShot Cine CT image quality feature. SnapShot Cine is automated to respond to a patient's heart rate, turning the CT x-ray on and off at desired times during a patient's heart rate cycle, according to the firm.
In other TCT announcements, GE announced a collaboration agreement with St. Jude Medical of St. Paul, MN. Under the terms of the deal, GE and St. Jude will develop a cardiovascular ultrasound imaging system with integrated intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) capabilities. GE said its ultrasound equipment will be integrated with St. Jude's catheter technology, providing for real-time ultrasound imaging within the heart.
In other GE news, the company has introduced its Voluson E8 ultrasound scanner. Designed for women's imaging applications, Voluson E8 features tools such as SonoVCAD (sonography-based volume computer-aided diagnosis), which streamlines acquisition of volumetric images of the fetal heart, according to the vendor.
Other new features on Voluson E8 include a high-resolution 4D transvaginal probe, a matrix-array volume probe, GE's TruScan architecture, ergonomics functionality, and GE's ViewPoint interoffice information system.
GE also announced it has signed Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA, as a new customer for its LightSpeed VCT scanner.
