This week AuntMinnie.com is serving up two of the industry’s most prominent experts on digital imaging to sort through the new digital technologies shown at the RSNA meeting.
Dear AuntMinnie Member,
The explosion of PACS technology has created a mission (almost) impossible for attendees of the annual RSNA meeting in Chicago. There simply aren’t enough hours in the day to wade through the cavernous halls of McCormick Place to see all of the new products introduced during RSNA week.
Fortunately, AuntMinnie.com is bringing you two of the industry’s most prominent experts on digital imaging to sort through the new technologies shown in Chicago. In our first review, PACS consultant Michael J. Cannavo of Image Management Consultants has authored an overview of RSNA PACS technology that we’re featuring in our PACS Digital Community this week. Mr. Cannavo’s review is a follow-up to his tongue-in-cheek "2003 PACSMan Awards," a humorous send-up of RSNA excellence and ignominy. You’ll find both stories in the PDC, at pacs.auntminnie.com.
For additional perspective, on Thursday, December 18 at 2 p.m. CST, Herman Oosterwijk from OTech Health Care Technology Solutions will conduct a live Web presentation with special video footage shot directly from the RSNA technical exhibit floor.Mr. Oosterwijk will place special emphasis on computer-aided diagnosis, digital and computed radiography, and new detector plate technologies. He’ll also cover the conversion to thin-client PACS architectures, viewing station functionality, and monitor and archiving trends, along with tips on implementing HIPAA measures in an existing imaging environment.
As with past OTech/AuntMinnie presentations, you'll need to register for the event with OTech, even if you're already an AuntMinnie member. You’ll also need a current version of Windows Media Player installed on your computer to take full advantage of the audio and video. The Webcast is free, and will take place on OTech's Web site, at www.otechimg.com/webcast.php. Afterward, we’ll have an archived version available in our RADCast @ RSNA special section.
