The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM Union) has asked Ohio’s congressional delegation to intervene in a labor dispute regarding GE HealthCare’s manufacturing facility in Aurora, OH.
The union said it has filed two unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board, alleging that GE HealthCare has engaged in “unlawful surface bargaining and failed to bargain in good faith.” It is also alleging the that the firm “canceled bargaining sessions, made regressive proposals, and unlawfully refused to maintain the status quo by withholding previously scheduled wage increases after workers chose union representation.” The Aurora, OH, facility produces MRI coils.
In a statement to AuntMinnie, a GE HealthCare spokesperson said that the company is “committed to serving our customers and their patients and fostering a supportive environment where our employees can excel, innovate, and help shape the future of healthcare. We have been bargaining in good faith and remain focused on reaching an agreement that provides competitive wages and meaningful benefits, while also supporting the long-term health of the business and our ability to serve patients and customers.”
