Mercury Computer posts lower Q2 revenues

Revenues at Mercury Computer Systems of Chelmsford, MA, declined in the company's second fiscal quarter (end-December 31).

Second-quarter revenues were $57.9 million, down 7% from the prior fiscal year's second quarter. The company also posted a net loss of $1 million, compared with net income of $1.2 million in the same quarter a year ago.

For the six-month period, revenues slipped to $106.9 million, compared with $129.4 million in the same period of the previous fiscal year. The six-month net loss was $12.7 million, compared with net income of $4.3 million in the same period a year ago.

President and CEO Jay Bertelli said the company continues to be "buffeted by head winds" in Mercury's primary markets. However, he added that investments in markets, such as 3D and PACS, are promising.

In November, Mercury announced that three companies signed agreements to integrate its Visage PACS, client/server offerings, and volume rendering software with their product offerings. Brit Systems of Dallas; Koning of West Henrietta, NY; and Genesis Digital Imaging of Los Angeles will integrate the Visage systems into their PACS/RIS, scanner equipment, and PACS product lines, respectively.
