Fuji to end U.S. medical film production

Fujifilm Medical Systems USA will soon no longer produce medical imaging film in the U.S. Production of medical imaging film products at Fujifilm Manufacturing USA's Greenwood, SC, facility is expected to be discontinued by April 1, according to the Stamford, CT-based vendor.

With the market shift to PACS networks leading to significant declines in overall medical film sales, Fuji said it has decided to consolidate all of its medical film production in one facility in Japan. Ongoing delivery of film to Fuji's medical customers will continue without interruption from the Japanese facility, according to Fujifilm Medical Systems USA president and CEO Makoto Kawaguchi.
