SonoSite to post record 2008

Compact-ultrasound developer SonoSite said it expects to post record revenue and operating income in 2008, thanks to strong sales of its M-Turbo and S Series product lines.

Based on preliminary results for its fourth quarter (end-December 31), the Bothell, WA-based firm is expecting 2008 revenues to climb 18% to reach $243 million. Fourth-quarter revenue is projected to be approximately $70 million, up 19% compared with the fourth quarter of 2008.

President and CEO Kevin Goodwin said that the company is planning for 2009 revenue growth of 5% to 10% at current exchange rates, with relatively flat revenue growth in the first three quarters. Operating income is expected to increase 10% to 20% in 2009.

In other SonoSite news, the company has introduced S-Women's Health, an ultrasound tool for its S Series product line. Targeted at women's health clinicians, S-Women's Health employs only depth and gain controls, eliminating buttons, dials, and menus from the interface, according to the vendor. It also incorporates SonoSite's SonoHD, SonoMB, and SonoAdapt technologies.
