Medipattern reports Q1 results, customizes B-CAD

Computer-aided detection (CAD) software firm Medipattern of Toronto has reported that its newly focused marketing and sales strategy resulted in an increase in revenues and a decrease in losses for the first quarter of the company's 2007 fiscal year.

For the quarter (end-September 30), revenues increased to $138,000 from $21,000 in the same quarter a year ago, reflecting the company's increased business activity, according to Medipattern. Resulting loss for the quarter fell to $543,377, a 5.5% decrease from $575,167 in the same period in 2006.

The firm also announced it will be providing a customized version of its B-CAD software for breast ultrasound for SonoCiné, an OEM developer of a proprietary whole-breast screening ultrasound system for cancer detection. SonoCiné's screening process for cancer detection and diagnosis transfers sonographic ciné loops or video streams to a Windows-based computer, optimizing viewing conditions, including review speed, image size, contrast, gamma, and brightness in 2D and 3D formats.

The customization represents the company's newly focused sales strategy and reflects its growing direct relationships with OEMs, Medipattern said.
