SuperSonic Imagine raises $12 million

Ultrasound start-up SuperSonic Imagine of Aix en Provence, France, has raised 10 million euro ($12 million U.S.) in Series A funding managed by Credit Agricole Private Equity.

The new funds will be used for developing a prototype breast cancer diagnosis product and its clinical trials in the U.S. and Europe, SuperSonic said. The firm believes the technology will also be applicable for thyroid, liver, and prostate cancer diagnosis, according to Jacques Souquet, CEO and founder of the company.
