TeraRecon, Fukuda-Denshi debut US scanner

Advanced visualization developer TeraRecon and Fukuda Denshi of Tokyo, Japan, are teaming up to introduce Imagic Sigma 5000, a cart-based cardiovascular ultrasound scanner at next week's 2005 RSNA meeting in Chicago.

The system includes high-definition imaging features, streamlined workflow, and ergonomics, according to the San Mateo, CA-based firm. Imaging features include tissue Doppler imaging, anatomical M-mode, nonimaging continuous wave (CW) capability, and tissue harmonic imaging, TeraRecon said.

Other features include patient data management and archiving capabilities, a motorized height adjustment feature for the operator console, and a high-resolution flat screen that swivels and tilts, according to the firm. TeraRecon will serve as the exclusive distributor in the U.S. and Canada for the Imagic Sigma 5000 series.
