Merge debuts mobile app for iPhone

Healthcare IT and advanced visualization developer Merge Healthcare has introduced Merge Mobile, an image viewing application for an Apple iPhone or iTouch.

Merge Mobile, available free of charge from the iPhone App Store, allows patients and healthcare professionals to view digital medical images, according to the Milwaukee-based firm. Merge anticipates that the technology will allow for the development of applications to retrieve CT, MRI, x-ray, and other images wirelessly, and to perform standard radiologic manipulations.

It also incorporates advanced remote rendering techniques, including multiplanar reconstruction, Merge said. Other features include remote stack viewing, scroll, contrast adjustment, zoom, and pan.
