E-Z-EM shows new blood analyzer

Contrast injection developer E-Z-EM this week is demonstrating its new EZ Chem blood analyzer as a work-in-progress at RSNA 2005 in Chicago.

EZ Chem is a point-of-care device for conducting blood assays in patients prior to certain imaging procedures, such as contrast CT exams, according to the Lake Success, NY, firm. E-Z-EM developed the product with Nova Biomedical of Waltham, MA, and has exclusive rights to market the product to radiologists and gastroenterologists in North America, with additional marketing rights worldwide.

E-Z-EM expects to submit its application to the FDA for clearance in the third quarter of 2006. Marketing could begin by late next year.
