U.S. ultrasound market hits $1.23 billion

Total U.S. medical ultrasound revenues reached $1.23 billion in 2003, up 7.9% from the $1.14 billion produced in 2002, according to a report issued by ultrasound consulting firm Klein Biomedical Consultants of New York.

The Mountain View, CA-based ultrasound division of Siemens Medical Solutions retained its number-one spot in the U.S. in the report for the fourth year in a row. Philips Medical Systems of Andover, MA, finished in second place, followed by GE Healthcare of Waukesha, WI.
