TeraRecon taps new VP of engineering

Advanced visualization firm TeraRecon of San Mateo, CA, has appointed a new vice president of engineering.

Dr. TieCheng "TC" Zhao, Ph.D., joined TeraRecon in 2001 when the company acquired the real-time visualization business unit of Mitsubishi Electric, where he was co-creator and architect of VolumeProNET, a network-based volume-rendering server.

Zhao previously worked as a CT physicist with GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., where he was involved with the company's first four-slice CT scanner, and also as a research scientist at NASA, according to TeraRecon.
