Merge posts healthy Q1

Healthcare IT and advanced visualization developer Merge Healthcare posted revenue growth in its first quarter of 2009, marking three straight quarters of profitability, the company said.

For the quarter (end-March 31), the Milwaukee-based firm had revenue of $15.3 million, compared with $13.7 million in the first quarter of 2008 and $15.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2008. Merge had first-quarter net income of $2.8 million, compared with a net loss of $7.8 million in the first quarter of 2008 and net income of $1.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2008, according to Merge.
