Vital Images turns in record Q4, year-end

Advanced visualization firm Vital Images reported record revenue for its fiscal 2006 fourth quarter (end-December 31) and year.

The Minnetonka, MN-based company posted fourth quarter revenue of $20 million, a 31% jump over the $15.3 million recorded in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005. For the year, the firm reported revenue of $70.5 million, a 36% surge in growth over the $51.7 million posted in the prior year.

Net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2006 was a solid $2.3 million, compared with net income of $2.4 million for the previous year. Vital Images noted that its 2006 fourth quarter included equity-based compensation costs of $890,000 compared with a charge for equity-based compensation costs of $84,000 in the same quarter last year.

For the fiscal year, the firm posted net income of $6.6 million, comparing favorably with the prior year's net income of $5.8 million. In addition, the company reported equity-based compensation costs of $3.6 million for the 2006 fiscal year, compared with fiscal 2005 equity-based compensation costs of $213,000.
