The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, along with the Kidney Cancer Association, have created a $500,000 research fund for basic, translational, or clinical radiation research on kidney cancers in adults and children.
The annual fund is named for Dr. Ira Spiro, a radiation oncologist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, who died of kidney cancer in February 2001. The Kidney Cancer Association will manage and distribute the fund.
