Network and security disruptions are affecting imaging workflows at roughly 85% of healthcare organizations, with 38% experiencing disruptions at least weekly, according to a survey of more than 300 IT leaders and executives by networking company Nile.
Cybersecurity threats and ransomware ranked as the top network challenge, cited by 27% of respondents, according to the report. Only 20% of organizations said they were confident their network could contain a cyber incident across its mix of IoT, medical, clinician, and guest devices, the survey found. The report noted that disruptions directly affect EHR access, patient monitoring, imaging workflows, and connected care.
About two-thirds of healthcare IT teams described themselves as strained or firefighting, with only 18% saying they were comfortably managing network operations, according to the survey.
