Study links frequent dental x-rays with brain tumors

People who have received frequent dental x-rays have an increased risk of developing meningioma, according to a case-control study examining the correlation between dental x-rays and meningioma. The findings support the need for practitioners to exercise their best professional judgment when determining whether an imaging study is a diagnostic necessity.

PET/CT moves closer to diagnostic standard of care

The combination of functional PET data with anatomical CT data has been shown time and again to provide more accurate and specific diagnoses than individual modalities alone, with the added bonus of sometimes detecting previously unknown tumors or conditions.

Study finds link between RT retake rates and image quality

Sometimes it takes a little extra time to get the job done right. That seems to be the message from a new study analyzing the relationship between digital radiography (DR) retake rates and image quality -- researchers found that the radiologic technologists with the highest retake rates also produced the best images.
