Fujifilm, IAEA sign agreement to expand cancer imaging

Acquisitions

Fujifilm has signed a practical arrangements agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) aimed at expanding medical imaging technology and training in low- and middle-income countries.

Under the agreement, the two organizations will collaborate on awareness campaigns, education and training programs for healthcare professionals, and the provision of Fujifilm medical equipment and software, the company said. Fujifilm will also work with IAEA-established educational and clinical hub centers in various countries to expand their capacity, according to the announcement.

The collaboration falls under the IAEA's Rays of Hope initiative, a global cancer control program focused on expanding access to radiotherapy and diagnostic imaging in lower-resource settings. Fujifilm said its mammography systems are scheduled to be introduced at medical institutions in 26 countries in Africa in the current fiscal year with IAEA support.
