Breast imaging software developer Three Palm Software has upgraded its WorkstationOne mammography interpretation software with additional HL7 support and new features, and is showing the new release at the RSNA 2011 meeting in Chicago.
The upgrade expands the bidirectional capabilities of the existing standards-based HL7 interface. This allows a RIS worklist to control the viewing of mammography cases and for automatic propagation of reporting information from the workstation into the RIS.
The new release also includes enhanced tomosynthesis viewing capabilities, which are seamlessly integrated into the standard mammography workflow. 3D navigation icons visually assist navigation through each slice of a digital breast tomosynthesis volume, and the slab rendering allows the user to interactively change the compositing of multiple slices as the system cines through the stacks, according to the company.
Another new feature is support for multiview cross-correlation arcs that can be used to interactively inspect suspicious regions in two or more views within one study or across current and prior studies, based on the distance of those regions from the nipple position.
The new release also includes support for 3-megapixel-based 9-mega independent subpixel drive displays, a combination that offers cost savings without compromising image quality or functionality, according to Three Palm.
