Hologic has released the fifth edition of its Global Women's Health Index, which it developed in partnership with Gallup.
The report shows that more than half of women and girls aged 15 and older worldwide were not tested for cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, or sexually transmitted infections in the past year.
Based on an annual survey of 145,000 people in 144 countries and territories, the index tracked five years of health data and found that in Year 5, only 13% of women globally had been tested for any type of cancer in the past 12 months, according to Hologic. The world scored 54 out of 100 on the index in Year 5, unchanged from Year 1, suggesting little overall progress in global women's health.
At the country level, health index scores have increased in 28 countries and decreased in 10 since Year 1, the company said.
