Dear Ultrasound Insider,

At the 2005 Leading Edge in Diagnostic Ultrasound conference in May, Dr. Dolores Pretorius of the 3D US Imaging Group at the University of California, San Diego, shared some practical tips for 3D/4D ultrasound users.

Of particular importance: understanding artifacts, including B-mode artifacts, color or power Doppler artifacts, and those artifacts specific to 3D ultrasound, Pretorius said. Three-dimensional ultrasound-specific artifacts can pop up during the rendering, acquisition, or editing process, and cause problems if caution isn't exercised.
