The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has selected two radiation therapy teams for the 2026 BeRAD Professionalism Award.
Radiation therapists at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, James Cancer Hospital, and Solove Research Institute were selected based on a project that reshaped patient care. The Computed Tomography Simulation Cancellation Reduction project decreased monthly patient appointment cancellations from 31% to 5%, according to ASRT.
The team at Mount Sinai Health System, Department of Radiation Oncology in New York City was recognized for its team-based approach for patient satisfaction. The initiative includes using the situation, background, assessment, recommendation method for effective communication during hand-offs between team members. The department consecutively reached a 93% overall excellent patient satisfaction rating, according to ASRT.
Applications for the 2027 BeRAD Professionalism Award will open July 2026.
