Varian Medical Systems announced on October 15 that its shareholders have approved the acquisition of the company by Siemens Healthineers.
In August, Siemens said it had agreed to buy Varian in a deal valued at $16.4 billion. The acquisition would enable Siemens to expand from its core business in diagnostic imaging and into radiation oncology.
Varian reported that its shareholders "voted overwhelmingly" in favor of the deal. The acquisition is expected to close in the first half of the 2021 calendar year.
