The China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) has cleared radiation oncology vendor Elekta's Leksell Gamma Knife Icon radiosurgery system.
Gamma Knife Icon can treat any target in the brain regardless of type, location, or volume due to stereotactic imaging, automatic delivery correction, and dose evaluation, according to the firm. In addition to brain cancer, the device can treat benign lesions such as meningiomas, vascular issues such as arteriovenous malformations, and functional disorders such as trigeminal neuralgia.
