Radiation oncology firm Varian Medical Systems has received its first order from Thailand for its ProBeam Compact single-room proton therapy system.
ProBeam Compact will be installed at the oncology center at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok. Patient treatments are expected to begin in the second half of 2019. Varian will also provide its Eclipse treatment planning system and Aria radiation oncology information management system.
ProBeam Compact features a cyclotron, Varian's dynamic peak scanning technology for intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT), robotic patient positioning tools, and a suite of motion management tools.
The sale was facilitated by Varian's distributor, Business Alignment.
